Memorial and Interpretive walk

This project is set in the historic Botanic Gardens at Maryborough and comprises a Memorial walk, a sculptural Arbour and Viewing platform. The project combines art with history and gardens. The experience is part of a city wide heritage tour that tells the wonderful stories of Maryborough through various forms of media, including public Art, digital screens, street movies….

The Arbour provides a planted, shaded haven for visitors to reflect on stories that include the fallen soldiers and the battles they were part of, and the history of the gardens. The 9m sculptural form provides a striking city backdrop and entry to the gardens whilst subtly reflecting the skyline of the Anzac cove cliffs where a Maryborough son exemplified the stoic bravery and sacrifice of the Anzac spirit.

The memorial walk connects the arbour with the remainder of the park including the historic War memorial, path network the new viewing platform that provides a unique view of the gardens and continues the story telling.
